Olympic Medialist lifts top honours at Magners Sports Awards

The Sports Awards sponsored by Magners once again brought together many of Northern Ireland's sporting fraternity to acknowledge and recognise those individuals, teams and organisations whose contribution to Ulster Sport has been outstanding.

Girl power was certainly the order of the day at the Awards with the wonderful Wendy Houvenaghel walking away with the top prize. Ulster sporting icons like the late great Joey Dunlop, Darren Clarke, Tony McCoy and David Healy have been winners in the past but Olympic silver medallist Wendy is the first lady to be named the Belfast Telegraph Sports Star of the Year.
